INSPIRATION BEHIND TOLA

A while back I was watching a
message online that completely
changed the way I looked at
one verse in the Bible.

I first heard this from a pastor online
and I wish I knew her name because
I'd love to thank her.

What she shared has stayed
with me ever since.

This isn't my teaching. I didn't discover
it and I'm not trying to repeat
her message word for word.

I simply want to share what I heard,
how it impacted me and
why it inspired this shirt.

TOLA

Psalm 22:6

one word.
one creature.
one greater sacrifice.

the story behind
the name.

Inspired by
Psalm 22:6

"but I am
a worm,
and not
a man".

WHAT IS
TOLA

a hebrew word in
psalm used
to translate
"worm"...

a very specific
crimson worm

she
beautifully
reflects

Christ's
Sacrifice.

A WILLING
SACRIFICE

when the time comes for the crimson worm to give life to the next generation, she climbs onto the trunk of a tree and permanently attaches herself to the wood.

her decision is final.
she will never come down alive again, beneath the protection of her body, her young are born and for the next three days, they are sustained by the life of their mother.

then she gives up her life.
as she dies, a deep crimson stain is left upon the wood and in time, that crimson fades to white.

THE
CRIMSON
REMAINS

its sacrifice leaves
behind a crimson mark.

a reminder
of a life poured
out.

THEN CAME
CHRIST

Jesus knew exactly
where he was going.

he knew what was
waiting for him and
yet he went anyway.

he willingly went to
the cross…

gave his life…

so that we
could live.

THE SAME STORY
two sacrifices ... one purpose

TOLA

voluntarily climbs
the tree.

attaches itself
permanently.

dies and leaves
a crimson stain.

three days
of stillness.

offspring are
sustained by
the sacrifice.

what was crimson
turns white.

JESUS

voluntarily went
to the cross.

nailed to the cross
and endured.

sheds his blood
for our redemption.

three days
in the grave.

we are sustained
by his finished
work.

we are cleansed
& made righteous.

HOW INCREDIBLE
IS IT, THAT THE
CREATOR
OF THE UNIVERSE

the one who created the ...

Crimson Worm
You ... Me

would willingly step into His
own creation and become
the sacrifice for it.

MY HOPE

If you've taken the time to read this,
Thank You.

My hope is that you'll leave with a deeper
appreciation for Jesus Christ and the
sacrifice He willingly made for us.

If this design starts a conversation, I hope
that conversation leads someone to Scripture.

If Scripture leads someone to Christ, then
this shirt has accomplished everything
I hoped it would.
